Got back from Photostock 2008

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

It was a real blast.  We made some new friends and took lots of pictures.  Learned a lot too, with various photographers sharing their work, showing off their gear, giving lectures, demonstrations, etc.  I put up a few shots from the trip in my Work in Progress folder.  There are also a few in the Group Shoots folder.

I’m really looking forward to next year’s event!

Went back out shooting with Yves and Romain Saturday one last time before their 9pm flight.  We made it into the Packard Plant.

Group shoot with Yves Marchand & Romain Meffre

Friday, March 7th, 2008

I took the day off work yesterday to drive Yves and Romain around town.  They flew in from Paris to photograph the abandoned buildings of Detroit. Bernadette came along as well.  We went into St. Margaret Mary Catholic School and the Bob-Lo Building, and photographed the recently burned down MacMillan Elementary School.  Photos soon to come.

Latest shoot - Fisher Body 21

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

Went out yesterday with some of the group and shot at the old Fisher Body 21 plant.  It was great - most of the windows were intact, and the old paint spray area was still mostly together as well.  Look for pictures from the shoot in the gallery in the near future.

Group shoot at the Book Depository

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Yesterday some of us went down to shoot in the old Detroit Public Schools Book Depository. Residing next to the old Michigan Central Station, it previously was a postal sorting station or some such. A while back the Detroit Public school district used the building to store textbooks and other materials. I guess someone forgot about the place, and now the roof is caving in, all the windows are broken, water leaks everywhere, and vandals and vagrants have lit fire to many of those soaked, forgotten textbooks.

I will have some photos from the shoot posted in the next few weeks. In the mean time, the group photo is up - http://www.jeffbannow.com/gallery/v/groupshoots/022608/
